Before I had my children, I never really believed I would be part of a mothers group. Be that as it may, now that I am a mum, talking to other mothers about what is going on in my life has really helped me. We chat about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to talk about the newest baby fashions we have bought.

I generally meet with 4 other parents, once a month, to catch up on the latest gossip. We usually meet at Redwood Plaza Deli (which is in FAIRFAX, VA) as that is fairly central for all of us. I have been giving my baby girl organic meals from the beginning but I had not considered buying organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most popular products in the US and one of the most ruinous to the environment and to farmers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has ruined habitats and particularly water ways. Organic products are grown without the need for artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Alternatively, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control practices.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing

Getting organic clothes means you are buying produce which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less damage to our habitat. No or reduced use of insecticides and fertilisers means less pollution of our land and waterways, less health problems for farmers, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by moderating their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

Many wholesalers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothes or you can find companies solely devoted to organic baby clothing. Thankfully, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are provided for, from infants to teenagers. Of course, organic clothing for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.

I would not go as far to say that I am only ever going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am definitely going try to whenever possible.
