Organic Baby Clothes EAST NORTHPORT

Long before I had my first child, I never believed I would be part of a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am a new mother, being able to talk to other women about what is going on in my life has benefited me immensely. We talk about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we like to chat about the latest baby outfits we have bought.

I usually go out with 3 other women, once a week, to hear about the latest gossip. We generally meet at The Crossroads Cafe (which is in EAST NORTHPORT, NY) as that is quite central for all of us. Last time was particularly interesting seeing we chatted about baby clothes. I have been giving my baby boy organic produce from day one but it had never crossed my mind to getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most broadly grown crops in the US and one of the most ruinous to the environment and to farm employees. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has destroyed habitats and in particular water ways. Organic cotton is made without the need for artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Rather, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic pest control practices.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products

Getting organic produce means you are buying products which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less damage to the environment. No or a reduction in the use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our land and waterways, reduced cancers for farmers, and fewer health risks for our children by reducing their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

Many makers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic items or you can find wholesalers entirely dedicated to organic baby clothes. Anyway, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are provided for, from toddlers to adolescents. Of course, organic clothes for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.

I am not saying that I am just going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a good alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am most definitely going try to whenever possible.
