Back before I had my children, I never believed I would belong to a mothers group. However, now that I have become a mother, talking to other mothers about what is going on in my life has benefited me immensely. We chat about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we like to talk about the most recent baby outfits we have purchased.
I usually get together with 2 other mothers, once a fortnight, to catch up on the latest new. We usually meet at Subway Sandwichs & Salads (which is in CHICAGO, IL) as that is quite central for all of us. Last week was really exciting seeing we chatted about organic baby clothes. I have been providing my baby organic produce from day one but I had never thought about getting organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most broadly grown products in the world and one of the most ruinous to the environment and to farmers. The run off from cotton farms has damaged habitats and especially water supplies. Organic products are produced without using artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Rather, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic insect control practices.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products
Purchasing organic products means you are buying clothes which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less damage to the environment. No or a reduction in the use of herbicides and fertilizers means less pollution of our farms and rivers, less diseases for farm workers, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by lessening their contact with dangerous chemicals.
Several makers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothing or you can find shops completely dedicated to organic baby fashion. Anyway, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from infants to older children. Obviously, organic clothes for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.
I do not think that I am only going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a great alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am definitely going try to whenever possible.
