Organic Baby Clothes CHARLOTTE
Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 09-10-2009
Long before I had my baby, I never really believed I would be part of a mothers group. However, now that I am finally a new mother, talking to other parents about what is taking place in my life has benefited me immensely. We talk about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we like to discuss the most recent baby clothes we have bought.
I more often than not get together with 3 other mothers, once a week, to find out the latest happenings. We often meet at Chinatown Restaurant (which is in CHARLOTTE, NC) as that is fairly central for all of us. Last week was more eye opening because we chatted about organic baby clothing. I have been giving my baby boy organic meals from the beginning but I had never thought about purchasing organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most popular plants in the world and one of the most devastating to the ecosystem and to farmers. The run off from these farms has ruined the environment and in particular water ways. Organic cotton is produced without the use of artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Alternatively, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control techniques.
You can purchase soft organic cotton baby clothing online from a number of shops. Sckoon is my favourite for organic baby apparel.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing
Getting organic produce means you are getting products which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less damage to soils and waterways. No or a reduction in the use of pesticides and fertilizers means less pollution of our soils and rivers, reduced health problems for farm workers, and fewer health risks for our children by reducing their contact with dangerous chemicals.
A number of makers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find designers entirely dedicated to organic baby clothing. Either way, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are provided for, from infants to teenagers. Obviously, organic clothing for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.
I am not saying that I am only going to buy organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am most definitely going try to whenever possible.
