Long before I had my first child, I never imagined I would be part of a mothers group. However, now that I am a mum, being able to talk to other mothers about what is going on in my life has been a huge help. We chat about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we like to talk about the most recent baby outfits we have picked up.

I generally get together with 3 other mothers, once a month, to hear about the latest new. We often meet at Amato's Pizza & Pasta (which is in CENTERPORT, PA) as that is fairly central for all of us. I have been giving my baby organic food from the beginning but I had not considered getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown products in America and one of the most harmful to the habitat and to farmers. The run off from cotton farms has destroyed habitats and especially water bodies. Rather, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using organic pest control techniques.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Buying organic clothing means you are getting products which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less contamination of soils and waterways. No or reduced use of herbicides and fertilizers means less pollution of our land and lakes, less diseases for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our children by reducing their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

Quite a few makers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic items or you can find stores completely committed to organic baby clothes. Thankfully, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are provided for, from toddlers to adolescents. Naturally, organic fashion for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I am not saying that I am only ever going to buy organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am definitely going try to whenever possible.
