Long before I had my children, I never really imagined I would belong to a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I have become a new mother, talking to other parents about what is going on in my life has been a huge help. We talk about how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we like to talk about the newest baby outfits we have picked up.
I usually go out with 3 other parents, once a week, to catch up on the latest new. We often meet at Papa's Hot Dog's & Ice Cream (which is in BRUNSWICK, OH) as that is fairly central for all of us. Last month was particularly exciting seeing we talked about baby clothes. I have been giving my baby organic meals from the beginning but I had not considered purchasing organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most widely grown products in the world and one of the most devastating to the habitat and to farmers. The run off from cotton farms has damaged habitats and particularly water ways. Organic produce is produced without the need for artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Instead, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic pest control methods.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing
Buying organic produce means you are buying products which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less damage to the environment. No or less use of pesticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and waterways, reduced health problems for farm workers, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by reducing their contact with toxic chemicals.
Several retailers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothes or you can find retailers completely committed to organic baby clothing. Anyway, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from toddlers to adolescents. Of course, organic clothing for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.
I do not think that I am only ever going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is a good alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am without a doubt going try to whenever possible.
