Organic Baby Clothes AUSTIN

Long before I had my baby, I never thought I would be part of a mothers group. However, now that I have become a new mother, chatting to other parents about what is happening in my life has really helped me. We chat about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we enjoy being able to discuss the newest baby fashions we have bought.

I more often than not meet with 3 other women, once a week, to catch up on the latest happenings. We often meet at 34th Street Cafe (which is in AUSTIN, TX) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last week was particularly interesting seeing we chatted about organic baby clothes. I have been giving my baby girl organic meals from the start but I had never thought about purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown crops in America and one of the most ruinous to the habitat and to farm employees. The run off from these farms has destroyed ecosystems and in particular water ways. Organic cotton is made without the need for artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Rather, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using organic pest control techniques.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing

Buying organic clothes means you are buying produce which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less damage to soils and waterways. No or reduced use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and waterways, fewer health problems for farm workers, and fewer health risks for our children by lessening their contact with toxic chemicals.

A number of retailers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find stores entirely dedicated to organic baby clothing. Either way, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are provided for, from babies to older children. Obviously, organic fashion for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my man.

I would not go as far to say that I am only going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am absolutely going try to whenever it is available.
