Organic Baby Clothes AUGUSTA
Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 17-03-2008
Long before I had my baby, I never really believed I would join a mothers group. Be that as it may, now that I have become a mother, talking to other mothers about what is going on in my life has benefited me immensely. We talk about how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to talk about the latest baby clothes we have bought.
I more often than not get together with 2 other mothers, once a week, to catch up on the latest new. We often meet at Mcdonald's of Swanson Enterprises - Restaurants (which is in AUGUSTA, GA) as that is quite central for all of us. Last month was really eye opening because we talked about organic baby clothes. I have been providing my baby girl organic produce from the start but I had not considered purchasing organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most popular crops in the US and one of the most devastating to the environment and to farm employees. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has damaged ecosystems and especially water ways. Organic products are produced without the need for artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Rather, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic insect control techniques.
Benefits of Organic Clothing
Getting organic clothing means you are getting clothes which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less contamination of our habitat. No or a reduction in the use of herbicides and fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and lakes, reduced health problems for farmers, and fewer health risks for children by lessening their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.
Quite a few retailers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find stores completely devoted to organic baby clothing. Anyway, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are provided for, from babies to older children. Naturally, organic fashion for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.
I would not go as far to say that I am only going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a great alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am most definitely going try to whenever I can.
