Before I had my children, I never thought I would be part of a mothers group. However, now that I have become a new mother, talking to other mothers about what is going on in my life has really helped me. We talk about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to chat about the newest baby outfits we have picked up.
I generally go out with 2 other women, once a week, to catch up on the latest gossip. We often meet at Millard's Dairy Bar (which is in ATHENS, PA) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last time was more interesting seeing we discussed organic baby clothes. I have been providing my baby organic produce from day one but I had not considered buying organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most popular crops in America and one of the most devastating to the ecosystem and to farmers. The run off from cotton farms has damaged ecosystems and in particular water ways. Organic produce is grown without using artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Alternatively, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using organic insect control practices.

Benefits of Organic Clothing
Buying organic clothes means you are purchasing produce which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less contamination of our habitat. No or a reduction in the use of insecticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and waterways, fewer cancers for farm workers, and fewer health risks for our children by reducing their contact with toxic chemicals.
Quite a few retailers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothes or you can find designers solely devoted to organic baby fashion. Anyway, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are provided for, from infants to older children. Naturally, organic clothes for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.
I do not think that I am just going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am absolutely going try to whenever possible.
