Baby Clothes YOUNG AMERICA
Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 03-09-2008
Back before I had my baby, I had not believed I would join a mothers group. Be that as it may, now that I am a mum, talking to other mothers about what is going on in my life has been a huge help. We talk about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we enjoy being able to talk about the latest baby clothes we have purchased.
I more often than not go out with 4 other women, once a month, to catch up on the latest happenings. We generally meet at Red Fox Restaurant (which is in YOUNG AMERICA, IN) as that is fairly central for all of us. Last week was more interesting because we talked about organic baby clothes. I have been providing my baby girl organic meals from day one but I had not considered buying organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most popular plants in the US and one of the most devastating to the environment and to farmers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has damaged ecosystems and particularly water ways. Organic cotton is grown without the use of artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Rather, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic insect control methods.
You can purchase organic cotton baby clothing online from a number of stores. Sckoon is my favourite for organic baby apparel.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing
Purchasing organic clothing means you are getting products which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less contamination of soils and waterways. No or a reduction in the use of insecticides and fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and waterways, reduced health problems for farm workers, and fewer health risks for our children by lessening their contact with toxic chemicals.
A number of makers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find companies solely dedicated to organic baby clothing. Thankfully, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from toddlers to teenagers. Naturally, organic fashion for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my man.
I do not think that I am only going to get organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a great alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am most definitely going try to whenever it is available.
