Baby Clothes YORBA LINDA
Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 16-03-2008
Back before I had my baby, I never imagined I would join a mothers group. However, now that I am a mother, being able to talk to other mothers about what is taking place in my life has benefited me immensely. We chat about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we enjoy being able to talk about the most recent baby clothes we have picked up.
I more often than not go out with 3 other women, once a week, to hear about the latest new. We usually meet at Lamppost Pizza (which is in YORBA LINDA, CA) as that is fairly central for all of us. Last week was really eye opening as we chatted about organic baby clothes. I have been giving my baby girl organic food from day one but it had never crossed my mind to buying organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most widely grown plants in the world and one of the most devastating to the habitat and to farm employees. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has damaged habitats and especially water ways. Organic products are made without the use of artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Instead, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic insect control methods.
Benefits of Choosing Organic Products
Buying organic produce means you are buying products which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less pollution of our habitat. No or less use of herbicides and fertilizers means less pollution of our soils and waterways, less diseases for farmers, and fewer health risks for our children by lessening their contact with dangerous chemicals.
A number of retailers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find shops entirely devoted to organic baby clothes. Thankfully, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are catered for, from toddlers to teenagers. Of course, organic clothes for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.
I am not saying that I am only ever going to buy organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am without a doubt going try to whenever I can.
