Long before I had my children, I never really believed I would belong to a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am finally a new mother, chatting to other women about what is taking place in my life has been a huge help. We talk about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we like to talk about the most recent baby outfits we have picked up.

I generally get together with 2 other mothers, once a month, to hear about the latest new. We often meet at Bangkok Cuisine Restaurant (which is in WORTHINGTON, MN) as that is fairly central for all of us. Last month was really interesting as we talked about organic baby clothing. I have been giving my baby boy organic meals from day one but it had never crossed my mind to getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most broadly grown plants in America and one of the most ruinous to the ecosystem and to farm employees. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has damaged ecosystems and in particular water supplies. Organic cotton is made without the need for artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Alternatively, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic pest control practices.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing

Purchasing organic produce means you are buying products which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less pollution of our habitat. No or reduced use of insecticides and fertilizers means less pollution of our farms and rivers, fewer cancers for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by moderating their contact with dangerous chemicals.

A number of retailers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find stores entirely dedicated to organic baby clothes. Either way, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from babies to older children. Naturally, organic fashion for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I do not think that I am only ever going to buy organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am absolutely going try to whenever I can.
