Baby Clothes VALDOSTA
Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 31-05-2008
Before I had my children, I had not thought I would belong to a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I have become a mother, talking to other parents about what is happening in my life has been a huge help. We talk about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to talk about the latest baby fashions we have bought.
I more often than not get together with 3 other parents, once a month, to catch up on the latest happenings. We usually meet at Cj's Pub & Pool (which is in VALDOSTA, GA) as that is quite central for all of us. Last week was particularly interesting as we chatted about baby clothes. I have been providing my baby organic food from the beginning but I had never thought about buying organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most broadly grown crops in the US and one of the most harmful to the ecosystem and to farm employees. The run off from cotton farms has ruined habitats and in particular water bodies. Organic cotton is produced without using artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Rather, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control techniques.
Benefits of Choosing Organic Products
Purchasing organic products means you are getting produce which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less contamination of the environment. No or a reduction in the use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and lakes, less health problems for farmers, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by reducing their contact with dangerous chemicals.
Several producers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find shops completely committed to organic baby clothes. Either way, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are provided for, from infants to adolescents. Obviously, organic clothes for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.
I am not saying that I am only going to buy organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am without a doubt going try to whenever possible.
