Back before I had my children, I had not imagined I would be part of a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am a new mother, talking to other mothers about what is happening in my life has really helped me. We talk about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we enjoy being able to chat about the newest baby clothes we have purchased.

I generally go out with 4 other women, once a month, to catch up on the latest happenings. We often meet at Max & Myrls (which is in TEMPE, AZ) as that is pretty central for all of us. I have been providing my baby girl organic produce from day one but I had never thought about purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most popular crops in the US and one of the most ruinous to the ecosystem and to farmers. The run off from cotton farms has destroyed ecosystems and particularly water supplies. Organic produce is made without the use of artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Instead, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control practices.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing

Getting organic clothes means you are getting produce which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less contamination of soils and waterways. No or reduced use of insecticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and lakes, reduced health problems for farm workers, and fewer health risks for our children by lessening their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

Several makers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothes or you can find shops entirely dedicated to organic baby clothing. Anyway, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are provided for, from infants to teenagers. Naturally, organic fashion for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.

I would not go as far to say that I am only going to buy organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am absolutely going try to whenever I can.
