Before I had my first child, I had not imagined I would belong to a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am a mother, talking to other women about what is happening in my life has been a huge help. We discuss how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we enjoy being able to discuss the latest baby outfits we have bought.

I more often than not go out with 3 other women, once a fortnight, to catch up on the latest happenings. We generally meet at Hilldale Nippon KAN Restaurant (which is in SCHAUMBURG, IL) as that is quite central for all of us. Last month was more exciting because we talked about baby clothes. I have been providing my baby organic meals from the beginning but I had not considered buying organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most broadly grown crops in the world and one of the most ruinous to the environment and to farm workers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has ruined ecosystems and in particular water supplies. Organic produce is grown without the use of artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Alternatively, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic insect control practices.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products

Getting organic products means you are getting clothes which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less pollution of our habitat. No or less use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our land and waterways, less diseases for farmers, and fewer health risks for our children by lessening their contact with toxic chemicals.

Quite a few makers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothing or you can find designers solely devoted to organic baby clothes. Thankfully, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from babies to teenagers. Of course, organic fashion for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my man.

I am not saying that I am only going to buy organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a great alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am without a doubt going try to whenever possible.
