Back before I had my children, I had not believed I would join a mothers group. However, now that I have become a mum, being able to talk to other mothers about what is going on in my life has really helped me. We talk about how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we like to discuss the most recent baby outfits we have purchased.
I more often than not get together with 3 other mothers, once a month, to find out the latest gossip. We generally meet at Acapulco Mexican Restaurant Y Cantina (which is in SAN DIEGO, CA) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last week was particularly exciting because we discussed organic baby clothing. I have been providing my baby girl organic meals from the start but I had not considered getting organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most widely grown products in the world and one of the most devastating to the environment and to farm employees. The run off from these farms has ruined ecosystems and particularly water supplies. Organic cotton is produced without using artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Alternatively, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic pest control techniques.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products
Getting organic products means you are getting produce which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less damage to the environment. No or reduced use of herbicides and fertilizers means less pollution of our soils and lakes, fewer diseases for farmers, and fewer health risks for children by lessening their contact with toxic chemicals.
Quite a few retailers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothes or you can find retailers entirely committed to organic baby clothes. Thankfully, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are provided for, from toddlers to teenagers. Of course, organic clothing for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.
I would not go as far to say that I am only going to get organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am without a doubt going try to whenever it is available.
