Baby Clothes SAG HARBOR

Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 21-05-2008

Back before I had my children, I had not believed I would join a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am a new mother, chatting to other mothers about what is taking place in my life has benefited me immensely. We chat about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we like to talk about the newest baby clothes we have purchased.

I more often than not go out with 4 other women, once a month, to catch up on the latest happenings. We usually meet at Inn at Mill Creek (which is in SAG HARBOR, NY) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last time was particularly exciting because we discussed organic baby clothing. I have been providing my baby boy organic meals from the start but I had not considered buying organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most broadly grown crops in the world and one of the most ruinous to the habitat and to farm employees. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has destroyed habitats and in particular water bodies. Organic produce is grown without using artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Rather, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using organic insect control practices.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Getting organic produce means you are getting produce which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less damage to our habitat. No or a reduction in the use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and waterways, fewer cancers for farmers, and fewer health risks for children by reducing their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

A number of retailers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothes or you can find stores completely dedicated to organic baby fashion. Anyway, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are catered for, from infants to teenagers. Obviously, organic clothes for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I would not go as far to say that I am only ever going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am definitely going try to whenever it is available.
