Long before I had my children, I never thought I would join a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am a mother, chatting to other mothers about what is going on in my life has benefited me immensely. We chat about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we love to discuss the most recent baby fashions we have purchased.
I more often than not get together with 2 other parents, once a fortnight, to hear about the latest happenings. We often meet at Barnstormers Pub (which is in ROCHESTER, NY) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last time was particularly interesting because we chatted about organic baby clothing. I have been providing my baby organic produce from the beginning but I had not considered purchasing organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most popular crops in America and one of the most harmful to the environment and to farm employees. The run off from cotton farms has ruined the environment and in particular water supplies. Organic produce is produced without using artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Rather, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic insect control practices.

Benefits of Organic Clothing
Buying organic products means you are purchasing products which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less damage to the environment. No or reduced use of pesticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and waterways, reduced diseases for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by reducing their contact with toxic chemicals.
A number of makers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find shops solely devoted to organic baby fashion. Anyway, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from infants to older children. Of course, organic clothing for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my man.
I do not think that I am just going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am absolutely going try to whenever possible.
