Baby Clothes RICHMOND
Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 04-10-2009
Long before I had my baby, I had not believed I would join a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I have become a mum, being able to talk to other women about what is going on in my life has benefited me immensely. We chat about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we enjoy being able to talk about the newest baby clothes we have bought.
I generally get together with 2 other parents, once a fortnight, to find out the latest happenings. We generally meet at China Max (which is in RICHMOND, VA) as that is quite central for all of us. Last month was really interesting as we talked about organic baby clothes. I have been giving my baby organic food from the beginning but I had not considered buying organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most broadly grown crops in the US and one of the most harmful to the environment and to farmers. The run off from cotton farms has destroyed habitats and especially water ways. Organic cotton is produced without the use of artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Rather, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic insect control methods.
You can buy organic cotton baby clothing online from a number of shops. Sckoon has some of the cutest organic baby apparel.

Benefits of Organic Clothing
Buying organic clothing means you are buying produce which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less contamination of our habitat. No or a reduction in the use of pesticides and fertilizers means less pollution of our soils and rivers, reduced cancers for farmers, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by lessening their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.
A number of producers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothing or you can find companies entirely devoted to organic baby clothing. Thankfully, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from infants to older children. Naturally, organic clothing for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.
I am not saying that I am just going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am absolutely going try to whenever it is available.
