Baby Clothes RICE LAKE
Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 20-04-2008
Long before I had my baby, I had not imagined I would be part of a mothers group. Be that as it may, now that I am a new mother, talking to other parents about what is happening in my life has benefited me immensely. We talk about how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to discuss the newest baby outfits we have bought.
I usually meet with 3 other parents, once a month, to find out the latest gossip. We usually meet at IC Express & Hot Stuff Pizza (which is in RICE LAKE, WI) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last week was more interesting because we discussed baby clothes. I have been giving my baby boy organic food from day one but it had never crossed my mind to purchasing organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most popular crops in the world and one of the most harmful to the ecosystem and to farmers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has damaged ecosystems and in particular water supplies. Organic products are made without the need for artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Rather, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using organic insect control techniques.
Benefits of Organic Clothing
Getting organic clothing means you are purchasing produce which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less contamination of soils and waterways. No or a reduction in the use of insecticides and fertilisers means less pollution of our land and lakes, fewer diseases for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our children by reducing their contact with toxic chemicals.
Several retailers of baby clothes also make a range of organic items or you can find companies solely committed to organic baby clothes. Either way, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are catered for, from infants to adolescents. Of course, organic fashion for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.
I would not go as far to say that I am only ever going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is a good alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am without a doubt going try to whenever it is available.
