Before I had my children, I never imagined I would be part of a mothers group. Be that as it may, now that I am a new mother, chatting to other parents about what is going on in my life has really helped me. We chat about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to chat about the most recent baby outfits we have bought.
I more often than not go out with 2 other women, once a fortnight, to catch up on the latest happenings. We generally meet at Breakaway (which is in RENO, NV) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last time was really eye opening because we chatted about organic baby clothing. I have been feeding my baby boy organic produce from the start but I had not considered getting organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most popular products in the US and one of the most ruinous to the environment and to farm employees. The run off from cotton farms has ruined the environment and especially water supplies. Organic produce is made without the need for artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Rather, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic pest control techniques.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products
Getting organic produce means you are purchasing products which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less damage to our habitat. No or a reduction in the use of pesticides and fertilizers means less pollution of our land and lakes, fewer cancers for farm workers, and fewer health risks for children by lessening their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.
Many retailers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothing or you can find designers completely dedicated to organic baby clothing. Either way, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are catered for, from babies to adolescents. Of course, organic clothes for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my man.
I would not go as far to say that I am only ever going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am most definitely going try to whenever possible.
