Baby Clothes PITTSBURGH

Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 18-08-2008

Long before I had my children, I never really imagined I would be part of a mothers group. However, now that I am a mother, chatting to other women about what is happening in my life has benefited me immensely. We talk about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we love to discuss the most recent baby outfits we have picked up.

I generally meet with 2 other mothers, once a fortnight, to hear about the latest new. We usually meet at New York New York Inc (which is in PITTSBURGH, PA) as that is quite central for all of us. Last month was particularly interesting because we discussed organic baby clothing. I have been providing my baby organic food from the start but I had not considered getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most broadly grown products in the world and one of the most ruinous to the ecosystem and to farm workers. The run off from these farms has ruined ecosystems and especially water bodies. Organic products are produced without using artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Instead, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using organic pest control methods.

You can buy organic cotton baby clothing online from a number of retailers. Sckoon is my favourite for organic baby clothing.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Getting organic products means you are purchasing products which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less pollution of our habitat. No or less use of herbicides and fertilizers means less pollution of our land and waterways, fewer health problems for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our children by reducing their contact with dangerous chemicals.

Quite a few retailers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find companies completely dedicated to organic baby fashion. Thankfully, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are provided for, from toddlers to adolescents. Obviously, organic clothing for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my man.

I am not saying that I am only ever going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a good alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am most definitely going try to whenever I can.

  1. Hello Organicbabyclothesworld,

Loved your site. My name is Kimberlie and I’m a new mother (my boy is 3 weeks old). I have a baby onesies blog that gets some targeted traffic for baby clothes (http://www.babyonesies1.com/). Would you be willing to do a blog roll exchange?

    Let me know,

    Kimberlie

  2. I added your blog to the blogroll. Look forward to you doing the same. Thanks!
