Baby Clothes OLD ORCHARD BEACH

Back before I had my first child, I never imagined I would be part of a mothers group. However, now that I have become a new mother, being able to talk to other women about what is happening in my life has benefited me immensely. We discuss how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to discuss the latest baby outfits we have purchased.

I generally meet with 3 other parents, once a month, to find out the latest gossip. We usually meet at Riptide Restaurant (which is in OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last week was more exciting because we discussed organic baby clothing. I have been providing my baby boy organic meals from the beginning but I had not considered getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most popular products in the US and one of the most ruinous to the habitat and to farm workers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has destroyed ecosystems and particularly water supplies. Organic products are made without using artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Alternatively, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control techniques.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products

Buying organic products means you are getting produce which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less contamination of soils and waterways. No or reduced use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our land and rivers, reduced cancers for farmers, and fewer health risks for children by lessening their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

A number of wholesalers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothing or you can find retailers solely dedicated to organic baby clothing. Thankfully, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are provided for, from infants to older children. Of course, organic clothes for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my man.

I do not think that I am only ever going to get organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a good alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am most definitely going try to whenever it is available.
