Baby Clothes NORFOLK
Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 17-03-2008
Before I had my baby, I had not thought I would be part of a mothers group. However, now that I am finally a new mother, talking to other mothers about what is going on in my life has benefited me immensely. We discuss how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we enjoy being able to chat about the latest baby clothes we have bought.
I usually meet with 4 other mothers, once a month, to hear about the latest happenings. We generally meet at Norfolk-Days Inn Marina/Beachfront (which is in NORFOLK, VA) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last month was really interesting seeing we talked about organic baby clothes. I have been providing my baby organic food from day one but it had never crossed my mind to buying organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most broadly grown crops in the world and one of the most devastating to the ecosystem and to farm employees. The run off from these farms has damaged ecosystems and especially water bodies. Organic products are made without using artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Instead, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic pest control practices.
Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing
Buying organic clothing means you are buying produce which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less pollution of the environment. No or reduced use of pesticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and rivers, less diseases for farmers, and fewer health risks for children by moderating their contact with dangerous chemicals.
A number of retailers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothing or you can find retailers entirely committed to organic baby fashion. Anyway, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are provided for, from infants to teenagers. Obviously, organic clothing for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.
I am not saying that I am only ever going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is a great alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am definitely going try to whenever I can.
