Baby Clothes NEW YORK
Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 17-03-2008
Long before I had my baby, I never imagined I would belong to a mothers group. However, now that I am finally a mum, chatting to other parents about what is taking place in my life has really helped me. We discuss how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to discuss the most recent baby clothes we have bought.
I more often than not get together with 3 other women, once a week, to catch up on the latest gossip. We usually meet at Barclay Bar & Grill (which is in NEW YORK, NY) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last month was really eye opening seeing we chatted about organic baby clothes. I have been feeding my baby organic produce from the beginning but I had never thought about purchasing organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most broadly grown plants in America and one of the most harmful to the environment and to farm workers. The run off from cotton farms has ruined ecosystems and particularly water supplies. Organic produce is grown without the use of artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Alternatively, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using organic pest control methods.
Benefits of Choosing Organic Products
Purchasing organic products means you are purchasing clothes which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less pollution of our habitat. No or a reduction in the use of pesticides and fertilizers means less pollution of our soils and waterways, less health problems for farm workers, and fewer health risks for children by lessening their contact with dangerous chemicals.
A number of retailers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find designers solely committed to organic baby clothes. Anyway, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from infants to adolescents. Obviously, organic fashion for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.
I would not go as far to say that I am only going to buy organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am absolutely going try to whenever possible.
