Baby Clothes NEW YORK

Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 30-05-2010

Before I had my first child, I never really believed I would join a mothers group. However, now that I am finally a mother, being able to talk to other mothers about what is happening in my life has benefited me immensely. We discuss how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to discuss the newest baby fashions we have picked up.

I more often than not go out with 2 other women, once a month, to catch up on the latest new. We generally meet at Capri Bakery Corporation (which is in NEW YORK, NY) as that is fairly central for all of us. Last week was more eye opening as we chatted about organic baby clothes. I have been providing my baby girl organic produce from the beginning but it had never crossed my mind to getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown crops in the world and one of the most harmful to the habitat and to farm employees. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has ruined the environment and in particular water supplies. Organic cotton is produced without the use of artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Rather, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control practices.

You can buy organic cotton baby apparel online from a number of shops. Sckoon is my favourite for organic baby clothing.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Buying organic clothes means you are getting produce which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less contamination of the environment. No or reduced use of pesticides and fertilizers means less pollution of our soils and rivers, less cancers for farmers, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by moderating their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

A number of producers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothes or you can find companies entirely devoted to organic baby clothing. Either way, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are provided for, from babies to adolescents. Obviously, organic clothing for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I do not think that I am just going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am most definitely going try to whenever I can.
