Baby Clothes MUNSTER
Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 22-04-2008
Long before I had my baby, I had not imagined I would belong to a mothers group. However, now that I am a mother, chatting to other parents about what is happening in my life has benefited me immensely. We discuss how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to discuss the newest baby clothes we have picked up.
I generally go out with 3 other women, once a week, to find out the latest gossip. We generally meet at Munster Gyros (which is in MUNSTER, IN) as that is quite central for all of us. Last month was more eye opening because we discussed organic baby clothes. I have been providing my baby girl organic produce from day one but it had never crossed my mind to purchasing organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most popular crops in America and one of the most harmful to the habitat and to farm workers. The run off from cotton farms has damaged the environment and especially water supplies. Organic products are grown without using artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Rather, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using organic insect control methods.
Benefits of Organic Clothing
Buying organic clothing means you are purchasing produce which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less contamination of soils and waterways. No or less use of insecticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our land and lakes, fewer cancers for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our children by reducing their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.
Quite a few retailers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothes or you can find stores completely devoted to organic baby clothing. Thankfully, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are provided for, from babies to older children. Obviously, organic fashion for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.
I do not think that I am only ever going to get organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a good alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am most definitely going try to whenever possible.
