Baby Clothes MONTAUK

Long before I had my first child, I never thought I would join a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am a new mother, being able to talk to other women about what is taking place in my life has been a huge help. We talk about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we enjoy being able to discuss the newest baby fashions we have purchased.

I generally meet with 2 other women, once a week, to hear about the latest happenings. We generally meet at Cantina Bar & Grill (which is in MONTAUK, NY) as that is quite central for all of us. Last time was more exciting because we talked about organic baby clothing. I have been giving my baby organic produce from day one but it had never crossed my mind to purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most broadly grown products in the world and one of the most devastating to the ecosystem and to farmers. The run off from cotton farms has damaged habitats and especially water supplies. Organic cotton is made without the use of artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Rather, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control methods.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing

Purchasing organic clothes means you are getting clothes which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less contamination of the environment. No or reduced use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and lakes, less cancers for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by moderating their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

A number of retailers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothes or you can find stores completely devoted to organic baby clothes. Either way, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from infants to adolescents. Of course, organic clothing for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.

I am not saying that I am just going to buy organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am definitely going try to whenever it is available.
