Baby Clothes MC LEAN
Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 11-09-2008
Before I had my first child, I never really imagined I would join a mothers group. However, now that I have become a mum, being able to talk to other women about what is happening in my life has benefited me immensely. We talk about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we like to discuss the most recent baby fashions we have picked up.
I usually get together with 3 other mothers, once a month, to catch up on the latest gossip. We usually meet at Domenicos Ristorante Italiano (which is in MC LEAN, VA) as that is fairly central for all of us. Last time was particularly interesting as we talked about baby clothes. I have been providing my baby organic produce from the beginning but it had never crossed my mind to buying organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most broadly grown crops in the world and one of the most harmful to the environment and to farmers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has damaged the environment and especially water bodies. Organic products are grown without the use of artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Alternatively, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control practices.
You can purchase organic baby apparel online from a number of stores. Sckoon has some beautiful organic baby clothes.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing
Buying organic produce means you are buying products which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less damage to our habitat. No or less use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our land and rivers, reduced diseases for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our children by reducing their contact with dangerous chemicals.
A number of makers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find companies completely committed to organic baby clothes. Thankfully, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are provided for, from babies to older children. Obviously, organic clothes for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.
I would not go as far to say that I am just going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is a fantastic alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am without a doubt going try to whenever possible.
