Before I had my baby, I had not thought I would belong to a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I have become a mum, talking to other women about what is happening in my life has been a huge help. We chat about how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we like to chat about the latest baby clothes we have bought.
I generally get together with 2 other parents, once a week, to catch up on the latest gossip. We generally meet at Dairy Queen of Greggton (which is in LONGVIEW, TX) as that is quite central for all of us. Last time was really interesting as we chatted about organic baby clothing. I have been giving my baby organic food from the beginning but I had not considered purchasing organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most broadly grown products in the world and one of the most harmful to the ecosystem and to farmers. The run off from cotton farms has ruined habitats and in particular water bodies. Organic produce is grown without using artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Alternatively, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using organic insect control methods.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing
Purchasing organic products means you are purchasing clothes which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less damage to the environment. No or a reduction in the use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and lakes, reduced diseases for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our children by reducing their contact with toxic chemicals.
Quite a few wholesalers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothes or you can find companies completely committed to organic baby clothes. Anyway, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are provided for, from babies to adolescents. Obviously, organic clothing for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my man.
I am not saying that I am only going to get organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a great alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am definitely going try to whenever I can.
