Back before I had my baby, I never really imagined I would belong to a mothers group. However, now that I am a mum, being able to talk to other mothers about what is taking place in my life has been a huge help. We chat about how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to chat about the most recent baby outfits we have bought.
I more often than not meet with 2 other parents, once a week, to hear about the latest happenings. We usually meet at Popsie's Family Restaurant (which is in LIBERTY, MS) as that is fairly central for all of us. Last week was really eye opening seeing we chatted about organic baby clothing. I have been feeding my baby organic meals from the beginning but I had never thought about getting organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most popular crops in the US and one of the most devastating to the environment and to farmers. The run off from these farms has ruined the environment and in particular water bodies. Organic produce is grown without the use of artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Instead, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic pest control methods.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products
Getting organic produce means you are getting produce which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less damage to the environment. No or reduced use of pesticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and rivers, fewer health problems for farm employees, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by reducing their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.
Several retailers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic items or you can find retailers completely devoted to organic baby clothes. Thankfully, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from infants to adolescents. Of course, organic clothes for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.
I would not go as far to say that I am just going to buy organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a great alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am without a doubt going try to whenever possible.
