Back before I had my first child, I had not thought I would be part of a mothers group. However, now that I am a new mother, chatting to other mothers about what is going on in my life has been a huge help. We discuss how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we enjoy being able to chat about the most recent baby clothes we have picked up.
I usually meet with 4 other mothers, once a fortnight, to catch up on the latest gossip. We generally meet at Celebration Hotel (which is in KISSIMMEE, FL) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last month was particularly interesting seeing we talked about baby clothes. I have been giving my baby girl organic meals from the start but it had never crossed my mind to getting organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most widely grown plants in the world and one of the most devastating to the environment and to farm employees. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has destroyed habitats and particularly water bodies. Organic products are produced without the use of artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Rather, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic pest control methods.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing
Getting organic clothes means you are getting clothes which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less contamination of our habitat. No or a reduction in the use of insecticides and fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and rivers, reduced health problems for farmers, and fewer health risks for children by moderating their contact with dangerous chemicals.
Many retailers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothes or you can find stores entirely devoted to organic baby clothing. Either way, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from infants to older children. Obviously, organic clothes for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my man.
I do not think that I am only ever going to get organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am without a doubt going try to whenever I can.
