Baby Clothes HOUSTON

Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 03-10-2008

Long before I had my baby, I never really believed I would belong to a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I have become a new mother, being able to talk to other women about what is taking place in my life has been a huge help. We discuss how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we like to chat about the newest baby clothes we have purchased.

I generally go out with 4 other mothers, once a fortnight, to find out the latest gossip. We often meet at America Barbecue and Taqueria (which is in HOUSTON, TX) as that is quite central for all of us. Last month was more interesting seeing we chatted about organic baby clothing. I have been giving my baby organic produce from day one but I had never thought about getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown products in America and one of the most devastating to the ecosystem and to farm workers. The run off from cotton farms has destroyed ecosystems and especially water ways. Organic cotton is made without the use of artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Alternatively, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control techniques.

You can purchase soft organic cotton baby apparel online from a number of stores. Sckoon is my favourite for organic baby clothes.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products

Purchasing organic products means you are purchasing produce which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less contamination of the environment. No or a reduction in the use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and waterways, less diseases for farm workers, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by lessening their contact with toxic chemicals.

Many producers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothes or you can find stores entirely dedicated to organic baby clothing. Anyway, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are catered for, from infants to adolescents. Obviously, organic clothes for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.

I do not think that I am only going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is a good alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am definitely going try to whenever it is available.
