Baby Clothes HARPER

Before I had my children, I never really thought I would join a mothers group. However, now that I have become a new mother, being able to talk to other parents about what is going on in my life has really helped me. We discuss how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we enjoy being able to discuss the newest baby outfits we have bought.

I usually go out with 4 other mothers, once a month, to catch up on the latest gossip. We usually meet at D & J Drive-In (which is in HARPER, KS) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last week was really exciting seeing we discussed organic baby clothing. I have been feeding my baby boy organic food from the start but I had never thought about buying organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown crops in the world and one of the most harmful to the ecosystem and to farm workers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has destroyed the environment and in particular water ways. Organic products are grown without the use of artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Alternatively, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control practices.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Getting organic clothes means you are buying produce which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less contamination of our habitat. No or less use of insecticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and waterways, fewer cancers for farm workers, and fewer health risks for children by reducing their contact with dangerous chemicals.

Many producers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothing or you can find retailers solely committed to organic baby fashion. Thankfully, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are catered for, from infants to adolescents. Of course, organic clothing for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I do not think that I am just going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a good alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am most definitely going try to whenever possible.
