Baby Clothes GRAND RAPIDS

Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 08-05-2009

Back before I had my first child, I had not thought I would be part of a mothers group. Be that as it may, now that I am a new mother, chatting to other parents about what is taking place in my life has really helped me. We talk about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we enjoy being able to talk about the newest baby outfits we have purchased.

I more often than not meet with 4 other mothers, once a fortnight, to hear about the latest gossip. We generally meet at Wing On Lau Restaurants (which is in GRAND RAPIDS, MI) as that is quite central for all of us. Last week was really interesting because we chatted about organic baby clothes. I have been feeding my baby boy organic produce from the start but it had never crossed my mind to purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown crops in the world and one of the most harmful to the habitat and to farm employees. The run off from cotton farms has ruined the environment and particularly water ways. Organic cotton is made without the use of artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Rather, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using organic pest control techniques.

You can purchase soft organic cotton baby clothes online from a number of retailers. Sckoon has some gorgeous organic baby clothing.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing

Buying organic clothes means you are purchasing products which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less contamination of our habitat. No or reduced use of pesticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and rivers, fewer health problems for farm workers, and fewer health risks for children by reducing their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

A number of retailers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothing or you can find shops solely committed to organic baby clothing. Anyway, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are provided for, from toddlers to adolescents. Naturally, organic fashion for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.

I am not saying that I am only ever going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am most definitely going try to whenever possible.
