Baby Clothes GRAND FORKS
Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 28-04-2008
Long before I had my children, I had not thought I would belong to a mothers group. However, now that I have become a mum, talking to other mothers about what is going on in my life has really helped me. We talk about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we like to talk about the most recent baby fashions we have bought.
I generally meet with 4 other mothers, once a week, to hear about the latest new. We often meet at Burger Time (which is in GRAND FORKS, ND) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last month was really interesting because we talked about baby clothes. I have been giving my baby organic food from the start but I had not considered getting organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most popular products in the world and one of the most devastating to the environment and to farmers. The run off from cotton farms has damaged the environment and in particular water ways. Organic cotton is made without the use of artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Rather, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control practices.
Benefits of Organic Clothing
Purchasing organic clothes means you are buying produce which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less pollution of the environment. No or less use of insecticides and fertilisers means less pollution of our land and lakes, fewer diseases for farmers, and fewer health risks for children by reducing their contact with dangerous chemicals.
Quite a few makers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothes or you can find designers entirely devoted to organic baby clothes. Anyway, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from toddlers to teenagers. Naturally, organic fashion for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.
I would not go as far to say that I am just going to buy organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am most definitely going try to whenever possible.
