Before I had my children, I never really imagined I would be part of a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am finally a mum, talking to other women about what is happening in my life has benefited me immensely. We talk about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to discuss the most recent baby clothes we have bought.

I usually go out with 3 other women, once a week, to catch up on the latest gossip. We generally meet at Locker Room (which is in GILCREST, CO) as that is quite central for all of us. Cotton is one of the most popular products in the world and one of the most ruinous to the habitat and to farm workers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has ruined ecosystems and in particular water supplies. Organic cotton is grown without the use of artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Instead, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic insect control practices.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Purchasing organic products means you are getting produce which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less damage to our habitat. No or less use of pesticides and fertilizers means less pollution of our soils and lakes, less cancers for farm workers, and fewer health risks for children by reducing their contact with dangerous chemicals.

Several producers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothes or you can find stores completely dedicated to organic baby clothes. Either way, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from infants to adolescents. Obviously, organic fashion for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my man.

I would not go as far to say that I am only ever going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am definitely going try to whenever I can.
