Baby Clothes FRIDAY HARBOR

Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 17-03-2008

Long before I had my baby, I had not believed I would belong to a mothers group. However, now that I have become a mother, chatting to other women about what is going on in my life has really helped me. We discuss how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we like to discuss the most recent baby clothes we have picked up.

I more often than not meet with 4 other women, once a fortnight, to hear about the latest gossip. We generally meet at Front Street Ale House (which is in FRIDAY HARBOR, WA) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last week was really eye opening seeing we chatted about organic baby clothes. I have been providing my baby boy organic food from day one but I had not considered buying organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown plants in the US and one of the most devastating to the habitat and to farm employees. The run off from cotton farms has damaged ecosystems and particularly water supplies. Organic products are made without the need for artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Rather, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using organic insect control practices.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing

Buying organic clothes means you are getting clothes which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less contamination of the environment. No or reduced use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our land and rivers, reduced health problems for farmers, and fewer health risks for children by moderating their contact with dangerous chemicals.

A number of producers of baby clothes also make a range of organic items or you can find designers solely devoted to organic baby fashion. Anyway, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from babies to adolescents. Naturally, organic fashion for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my man.

I do not think that I am just going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is a great alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am definitely going try to whenever I can.
