Baby Clothes FARMINGTON

Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 28-05-2008

Before I had my baby, I had not thought I would join a mothers group. Be that as it may, now that I am finally a mother, chatting to other mothers about what is taking place in my life has really helped me. We discuss how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we love to chat about the latest baby fashions we have purchased.

I generally go out with 4 other mothers, once a fortnight, to catch up on the latest gossip. We usually meet at Tweeny's Deli & Wine Shoppe (which is in FARMINGTON, MI) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last week was more eye opening as we discussed baby clothes. I have been giving my baby boy organic meals from day one but I had never thought about purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown plants in America and one of the most harmful to the habitat and to farmers. The run off from these farms has damaged habitats and in particular water ways. Organic cotton is produced without the need for artificial fertilisers and chemicals. Alternatively, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic pest control techniques.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products

Getting organic produce means you are purchasing produce which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less contamination of soils and waterways. No or a reduction in the use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and waterways, reduced diseases for farmers, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by reducing their contact with dangerous chemicals.

Several producers of baby clothes also make a range of organic clothes or you can find designers entirely devoted to organic baby fashion. Anyway, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are catered for, from infants to teenagers. Naturally, organic fashion for men and women is also available and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.

I would not go as far to say that I am only ever going to buy organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am most definitely going try to whenever I can.
