Before I had my first child, I never really thought I would be part of a mothers group. However, now that I am finally a new mother, chatting to other mothers about what is taking place in my life has been a huge help. We discuss how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to talk about the newest baby fashions we have bought.

I generally go out with 3 other women, once a month, to catch up on the latest happenings. We often meet at Casey's Drive Thru (which is in FAIRBORN, OH) as that is pretty central for all of us. I have been providing my baby girl organic food from day one but it had never crossed my mind to purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most broadly grown crops in the US and one of the most harmful to the ecosystem and to farm employees. The run off from these farms has ruined habitats and particularly water supplies. Organic cotton is produced without the use of artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Rather, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control practices.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Buying organic clothing means you are getting products which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less pollution of our habitat. No or less use of herbicides and fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and lakes, reduced health problems for farm workers, and fewer health risks for our children by moderating their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

Quite a few producers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothes or you can find shops completely dedicated to organic baby fashion. Thankfully, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are catered for, from infants to adolescents. Naturally, organic clothes for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my man.

I would not go as far to say that I am just going to get organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is a great alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am most definitely going try to whenever possible.
