Long before I had my children, I never imagined I would be part of a mothers group. However, now that I have become a new mother, being able to talk to other mothers about what is going on in my life has benefited me immensely. We talk about how we bring up our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we love to chat about the latest baby fashions we have purchased.

I generally meet with 4 other mothers, once a fortnight, to find out the latest new. We usually meet at Kasas Pizzeria (which is in EAST STROUDSBURG, PA) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last time was more eye opening as we discussed organic baby clothing. I have been providing my baby boy organic meals from the beginning but I had not considered getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most broadly grown products in America and one of the most harmful to the habitat and to farm employees. The run off from cotton farms has damaged ecosystems and especially water ways. Organic produce is produced without the use of artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Instead, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, improving soils naturally, and using organic pest control techniques.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Buying organic clothing means you are purchasing clothes which have been produced in an eco-friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less contamination of the environment. No or less use of insecticides and fertilizers means less pollution of our farms and lakes, reduced health problems for farmers, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by lessening their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

Several retailers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothes or you can find retailers solely committed to organic baby fashion. Either way, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from babies to older children. Of course, organic clothing for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I do not think that I am just going to buy organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am most definitely going try to whenever possible.
