Baby Clothes CUMBERLAND

Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 24-04-2008

Back before I had my baby, I never really believed I would join a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I have become a mother, chatting to other women about what is happening in my life has really helped me. We discuss how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we like to chat about the latest baby clothes we have purchased.

I generally meet with 3 other mothers, once a month, to hear about the latest new. We usually meet at Gene's Family Restaurant (which is in CUMBERLAND, MD) as that is fairly central for all of us. Last week was particularly eye opening as we chatted about organic baby clothes. I have been feeding my baby boy organic meals from the beginning but I had not considered getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most popular crops in the world and one of the most harmful to the environment and to farm employees. The run off from these farms has destroyed habitats and particularly water supplies. Organic cotton is produced without the use of artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Rather, organic farming depends upon things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using organic pest control practices.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products

Getting organic products means you are getting clothes which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less damage to the environment. No or a reduction in the use of herbicides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and waterways, fewer cancers for farm workers, and fewer health risks for children by reducing their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.

A number of makers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothing or you can find stores completely devoted to organic baby fashion. Thankfully, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are catered for, from toddlers to adolescents. Naturally, organic fashion for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my man.

I am not saying that I am only ever going to buy organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am most definitely going try to whenever possible.
