Baby Clothes COLLEGE PARK

Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 02-02-2010

Long before I had my first child, I had not believed I would join a mothers group. However, now that I am a new mother, chatting to other women about what is happening in my life has really helped me. We chat about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we enjoy being able to discuss the newest baby clothes we have bought.

I generally get together with 3 other mothers, once a month, to find out the latest gossip. We generally meet at J S Grill (which is in COLLEGE PARK, MD) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last month was more exciting because we discussed baby clothes. I have been giving my baby organic food from the beginning but I had never thought about purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most popular plants in the US and one of the most devastating to the ecosystem and to farm workers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has damaged ecosystems and in particular water bodies. Organic cotton is grown without the need for artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Instead, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control techniques.

You can purchase organic cotton baby outfits online from a number of retailers. Sckoon has some beautiful organic baby clothes.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Getting organic clothes means you are getting products which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at least in a way which causes less contamination of the environment. No or less use of pesticides and fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and lakes, fewer cancers for farm employees, and fewer health risks for children by reducing their contact with toxic chemicals.

Many wholesalers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothing or you can find designers completely devoted to organic baby fashion. Thankfully, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from toddlers to teenagers. Obviously, organic fashion for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I do not think that I am just going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo clothing (which is a good alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am definitely going try to whenever possible.
