Before I had my first child, I never thought I would join a mothers group. Be that as it may, now that I have become a new mother, talking to other mothers about what is happening in my life has benefited me immensely. We chat about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share meal plans, and we like to discuss the newest baby fashions we have bought.
I generally meet with 2 other parents, once a fortnight, to find out the latest new. We often meet at Dairy Queen-Brady'S 16 (which is in CLOVIS, NM) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last month was particularly exciting because we talked about organic baby clothes. I have been giving my baby organic food from the start but I had not considered getting organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most broadly grown crops in the world and one of the most devastating to the environment and to farmers. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has destroyed the environment and especially water supplies. Organic produce is produced without the use of artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Alternatively, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using organic insect control techniques.

Benefits of Organic Clothing
Getting organic produce means you are buying clothes which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less pollution of our habitat. No or a reduction in the use of herbicides and fertilisers means less pollution of our soils and lakes, fewer health problems for farm workers, and fewer health risks for our children by moderating their contact with potentially dangerous chemicals.
Many producers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothes or you can find retailers solely committed to organic baby clothes. Either way, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are provided for, from infants to adolescents. Naturally, organic fashion for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.
I would not go as far to say that I am just going to buy organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am most definitely going try to whenever it is available.
