Baby Clothes CHEBOYGAN

Long before I had my baby, I never believed I would be part of a mothers group. Be that as it may, now that I have become a new mother, being able to talk to other women about what is happening in my life has benefited me immensely. We talk about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share recipes, and we enjoy being able to chat about the most recent baby outfits we have picked up.

I usually get together with 3 other parents, once a week, to find out the latest new. We usually meet at Nate's Place (which is in CHEBOYGAN, MI) as that is fairly central for all of us. Last month was really interesting because we discussed organic baby clothes. I have been giving my baby girl organic produce from the beginning but I had never thought about purchasing organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most widely grown crops in the US and one of the most devastating to the habitat and to farmers. The run off from these farms has ruined the environment and in particular water bodies. Organic products are produced without the use of artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Instead, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, enhancing soils naturally, and using organic pest control practices.

Benefits of Organic Clothing

Buying organic produce means you are buying produce which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less pollution of soils and waterways. No or reduced use of insecticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our farms and waterways, fewer health problems for farmers, and fewer health risks for our children by moderating their contact with dangerous chemicals.

A number of makers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic clothing or you can find retailers completely dedicated to organic baby clothing. Thankfully, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are taken care of, from toddlers to older children. Of course, organic clothing for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.

I would not go as far to say that I am just going to purchase organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is a great alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my baby but I am most definitely going try to whenever I can.
