Before I had my baby, I had not thought I would join a mothers group. However, now that I have become a mother, talking to other mothers about what is taking place in my life has been a huge help. We discuss how we deal with our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we love to talk about the latest baby outfits we have purchased.
I usually meet with 2 other mothers, once a month, to hear about the latest gossip. We generally meet at Golden Chopstick Restaurant (which is in BOLINGBROOK, IL) as that is quite central for all of us. Last month was particularly interesting as we discussed baby clothes. I have been providing my baby girl organic food from the start but I had not considered purchasing organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most widely grown crops in America and one of the most ruinous to the habitat and to farm workers. The run off from cotton farms has damaged habitats and particularly water bodies. Organic produce is made without using artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Rather, organic farming relies on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using eco friendly pest control techniques.

Benefits of Choosing Organic Products
Getting organic produce means you are purchasing products which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less contamination of soils and waterways. No or less use of insecticides and synthetic fertilisers means less pollution of our land and lakes, less diseases for farmers, and fewer health risks for our children by lessening their contact with dangerous chemicals.
Many makers of baby clothes also sell a range of organic clothes or you can find shops entirely devoted to organic baby clothes. Anyway, there are a lot of designs to choose from and all ages are catered for, from toddlers to teenagers. Naturally, organic clothes for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.
I would not go as far to say that I am just going to buy organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am without a doubt going try to whenever possible.
