Baby Clothes ATLANTA

Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 25-04-2008

Back before I had my baby, I never really thought I would join a mothers group. Be that as it may, now that I am finally a mum, being able to talk to other mothers about what is happening in my life has benefited me immensely. We talk about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we like to discuss the most recent baby fashions we have picked up.

I usually get together with 2 other women, once a month, to catch up on the latest gossip. We usually meet at Chicken Hut (which is in ATLANTA, GA) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last week was more interesting as we talked about organic baby clothes. I have been giving my baby organic meals from the beginning but I had never thought about getting organic clothing for her.

Cotton is one of the most popular products in the US and one of the most harmful to the habitat and to farm employees. The run off from non-organic cotton farms has destroyed ecosystems and in particular water bodies. Organic products are produced without using artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Alternatively, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using organic pest control techniques.

Benefits of Organic Baby Clothing

Purchasing organic clothes means you are purchasing clothes which have been produced in an eco friendly manner, or at a minimum in a way which causes less pollution of soils and waterways. No or less use of herbicides and fertilizers means less pollution of our land and rivers, fewer diseases for farmers, and fewer health risks for our babies and children by moderating their contact with toxic chemicals.

Quite a few retailers of baby clothes also make a range of organic items or you can find stores entirely devoted to organic baby fashion. Anyway, there are a lot of marks to choose from and all ages are catered for, from toddlers to teenagers. Of course, organic fashion for men and women is also accessible and I am looking into that for myself and my partner.

I would not go as far to say that I am only going to buy organic cotton or bamboo cotton clothing (which is an excellent alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my child but I am most definitely going try to whenever possible.
