Baby Clothes ANCHORAGE
Filed Under (Organic Baby Clothes) by Kaye on 21-03-2010
Before I had my first child, I had not imagined I would belong to a mothers group. Anyhow, now that I am a new mother, being able to talk to other parents about what is going on in my life has benefited me immensely. We talk about how we raise our children, what to do and not to do, we share baby food recipes, and we like to discuss the most recent baby fashions we have bought.
I more often than not meet with 4 other mothers, once a week, to catch up on the latest happenings. We often meet at Gwennies Old Alaska Restaurant (which is in ANCHORAGE, AK) as that is pretty central for all of us. Last time was more eye opening as we chatted about baby clothes. I have been providing my baby girl organic meals from the start but I had never thought about buying organic clothing for her.
Cotton is one of the most popular plants in the US and one of the most harmful to the habitat and to farmers. The run off from these farms has destroyed habitats and in particular water bodies. Organic products are produced without using artificial fertilisers and insecticides. Instead, organic farming depends on things like crop rotation, raising the quality of soils naturally, and using organic pest control methods.
You can get organic cotton baby outfits online from a number of retailers. Sckoon is my favourite for organic baby apparel.

Benefits of Organic Clothing
Buying organic produce means you are buying products which have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, or at the very least in a way which causes less pollution of the environment. No or reduced use of herbicides and fertilizers means less pollution of our land and waterways, fewer health problems for farm workers, and fewer health risks for children by reducing their contact with dangerous chemicals.
Many makers of baby clothes also produce a range of organic items or you can find companies solely dedicated to organic baby fashion. Thankfully, there are a lot of brands to choose from and all ages are catered for, from toddlers to adolescents. Obviously, organic clothes for men and women is also obtainable and I am looking into that for myself and my husband.
I would not go as far to say that I am only ever going to buy organic cotton or bamboo clothes (which is an amazing alternative to regular or organic cotton) for my children but I am absolutely going try to whenever it is available.
